About Me

Hi there, I’m Shane, the creator of TimelessRetroGaming. I’m a young-looking guy in his 50s and hail from the stunning landscapes of New Zealand. My journey into the gaming realm started in the vibrant arcades of the 1970s, with the unforgettable blips and beeps of Space Invaders. Nostalgia isn’t just about looking back; it’s about bringing those golden gaming moments into the present.

In my hands-on gaming history, I’ve had the joy of experiencing the evolution of gaming from its infancy. My first encounter with computing was with a Commodore VIC-20. Since then, the passion has only grown. It was the era of big hair and even bigger pixels, and I was hooked. I’ve seen the gaming world transform, collecting not just experiences, but a treasure trove of consoles, from the C64 to the Amiga 500 and a lineup of ground-breaking PCs.

My commitment to gaming took a serious turn when I witnessed DOOM running on a friend’s computer. The visceral experience was mind-blowing, and I knew I had to have it. That’s what led me to buy my very own 486 DX2/66 PC, and folks, let me tell you, it was a game-changer, quite literally.

The ability to emulate my all-time favourites – the Sega Dreamcast and Nintendo GameCube games keeps my fire for gaming ablaze to this day. Sure, I’ve got the latest hardware like the Xbox Series X and a nifty PC, not to mention the arcade-enriched Pandora’s Box for that authentic feel, but it’s the classics that truly resonate with me.

Here at TimelessRetroGaming, you’ll find out about the impact of retro gaming, not just in terms of pixels and frame rates, but also how it shapes our sense of community, creativity, and culture. I’m here to help you relive those epic gaming sessions and share the secrets behind their timeless allure.
